CANOE SNOOK

Todd Moen snapped a quick photo of Brian O'Keefe with a pretty nice snook while doing some video for the May 1 issue of Catch Magazine. This lagoon is way back in the boonies, south of Playa Blanca Lodge near Espiritu de Santos Lagoon, the big bay south of Ascension Bay. Several of these hog snook took the fly while navigating in a Coleman canoe. Add another ten pounds to this snook and that is how big two snook were that got away. True monsters. This action and a lot of tailing bones on the oceanside flats and some wade tarpon fishing made for a great trip.

COOL FLIES AND A NEW WEBSITE, TOO

We like to let our readers know when one of our advertisers or gear suppliers makes some news or has a new website or blog. Well, our good friends at Idylwilde Flies, just over the hill in Portland, Oregon, have made a spicy new website and a colorful, informative and entertaining new blog. Beside tons of cool flies to check out, there is no lack of banter, fun skits, big fish experiences and wit. Check out both the website and blog. Brian sends Idywilde owner Zach Mertens a photo or two and they appear in a feature called "Hey Zach". All good.
